Annual General Meeting

SAY Soccer members gathered in Panama City Beach at the Edgewater Beach and Golf Resort for the 2013 SAY Soccer AGM.  The AGM Convention weekend kicked off on Friday afternoon with a bowling tournament at Rock It Lanes.  Attendees competed for coveted trophies generously provided by Rixstine Recognition.

Later that day, attendees crowded the registration table to collect their packets and attendee gifts before entering the AGM Meeting at 6:30 pm.  Topics of discussion included recently passed concussion laws, the NSCAA Standards Project,  the Dick's Sporting Goods purchase of Blue Sombrero, and a question was raised about the need for three year olds to be able to play in SAY Soccer.  The meeting continued with National Board of Directors elections and voting where Lou Tempesta was re-elected as the At-large Director while Michael Croy of Region 2 and Walt Dewar of Region 3 joined the SAY National Board.  SAY is very appreciative of the years of service both Dan Brunmeier and Bob Sommer have performed.

Immediately following the AGM Meeting, attendees gathered in the Hospitality Suite, generously sponsored by Rixstine Recognition, where food, drinks, and our Annual Cornhole Tournament took place; winners were thrilled with their trophies courtesy of Rixstine Recognition. Fun was had by all in the Hospitality Suite!

Saturday morning began bright and early with breakfast at 7:30 am for Area Presidents. After breakfast, attendees funneled into various coaching, referee and NSCAA goalkeeping classroom sessions  Clinicians included Dan Miller of British Soccer Camps, Jack Hermans, Charlie Keaney, Ken White and SAY's own Director of Coaching, Neil Bradford.

Noon brought about our National Partner Symposium for one-stop shopping and preferred SAY pricing from our beloved National Partners:  Blue Sombrero, British Soccer Camps, Eurosport, Rixstine Recognition and the United States Soccer Adult Soccer Association. Simultaneously the Ice Cream Social and 3v3 Tournament kicked off, which were greatly enjoyed by all involved!  The 3v3 Tournament demonstrated great skill, sportsmanship and focused on kids simply having fun.  Kids and adults alike left with smiles on their faces, fun freebies and a love of soccer.

Saturday evening began with the SAY Soccer Banquet, sponsored by the NSCAA.  We were fortunate for special guest Joe Cummings, NSCAA CEO to be in attendance.   Door prizes, music by Sharon Carroll and a fantastic dinner were on the agenda.  Announcements and awards made by our re-elected SAY National Board President, Lou Tempesta followed.  Awards were given to both Dan Brunmeier and Bob Sommer for their service on the SAY National Board.  A drawing for a $100 Dick's Sporting Goods gift card was awarded to Dan Levstek of Winston Salem Soccer Club.

For many, the night continued on in our hospitality suites where a horseracing fundraiser to benefit our amazing host league, Bay County Youth Soccer Association.  Attendees will tell you the races were intense and great fun!

If you've never been to an NSCAA Convention...

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America invites you to join us at our 67th Annual Convention, which will be held in Philadelphia, PA, from Thursday, January 16, through Saturday, January 18, 2014.

When it comes to soccer events around the world, few can parallel the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Convention. Billed as "The World's Largest Annual Gathering of Soccer Coaches and Administrators," each year the NSCAA Convention draws 10,000 attendees over five days. The exhibit portion of the Convention annually showcases more than 300 exhibitors covering 600,000 square feet, making it The Largest Soccer Trade Show in North America.

The Convention boasts five days and four nights of can't miss soccer experiences. We offer the ability to make a fully customizable schedule so you can take advantage of all the week has to offer. Make sure to check out the new Experience Tracks feature to view sessions by the age group you coach. Whether it’s learning the basics of coaching goalkeepers or a high-level discussion of systems of play, each coach who attends will find something new to add to their soccer repertoire.
